Time assessment - Contemporary historical with modern twist

This time I choose some victory rolls with modern twist bun. I did not use the plastic rollers this time I preferred straight a hair by using steamer. For my contemporary look I choose below pictures.

This my back which I want to style my acrylic wig, small bun made it from two braids and one pieces of straight hair.

My work

First I used a steamer and brush to straight a hair

Then I started to  style my acrylic wig, I separated hair from the of face I took quiet big square pieces of hair an rolled them on my two fingers and pined by bobby pins.

 

 

This how look fro  the top, next part was divided hair onto three pieces, on the sides I did braids, only left silky in the middle, braids formulated into the buns and last piece, slipped under the buns. This a little different picture, but any minutes I show you from my DSLR  camera. At the end I clipped purple flower for decorations.

 

 

 

 


Actually I was quite happy with final look, the acrylic wig fit quite well, and also my contemporary style chosen went very well.

Practise historical hair style

So, today I was practising my historical style before my time assessment. I choose 1940's Victory rolls, I thought this look will be quite easy, but unfortunately on acrylic wig its so hard to shape the. This is my actually look from 1940's, original picture from this decade.

So, below my acrylic wig, I used the steamer to straight and smooth the hair.

The hair looks so silky and straight. First I used a plastic rollers, to get the curls. Unfortunately we can used any warm hot rollers or curly wand, this is an acrylic wig so the only way is use the steamer, very hard to rolled them, I used plastic rollers biggest, medium and small size.

I started from the top of hair, I left one rollers length and rolled them from the middle to downwards to an ears on both sides- I used medium . Unfortunately I did not take any of my pictures from original. But I took some photo when I practised on Kate head.

Definitely was quite easy to style on Kate 's head, natural hair more flexible to style then acrylic wig. I tried to do Victory rolls from 1940's . I used a curly wand to curl the hair, then using my two fingers I rolled them and pined it. If we can just use Kate's head would be much easier for us to create from 1940's style.

Like you can see everything went wrong way. I used plastic rollers and steamer to curled acrylic wig But when I styled  I have some gaps between pieces of hair, because of fake hair was so difficult to even rolled them on the fingers, the most difficult was a fringe,I really struggle with Victory rolls, easy was tom styled rest of curled hair.I f I knew it I would not curl a fringe and hair from the top of the head. I could also use some accessories to add something to acrylic wig, I forgot about it.

I choose my 40's Victory Rolls for assessment and I bought acrylic blond wig.This is my images for look, which I will style my wig.

 Well, to be honest the wig is rubbish and isn't good quality and I really struggle to get any shape. First I used steamer to straight wig, next I rolled hair on plastic rollers. I started from my fringe- 2 medium size rollers, then working bricks layer the red biggest one to lift up and curl wig, smallest one I rolled at back of head, this how looks on the pictures.

On the first sight, wig looks OK even hair look are more thicker, my biggest problem was, put them into rollers, after that I had spaces between hair , which I couldn't manage.

I really struggle put them into rollers, nobody said will be easy, when I finished I used steamer to set up and left them to dry until Friday.
I didn't take picture when I style my wig- totally forgot. Here is it my ready style wig on my applied on my friend head Nancy.

Like you can see on picture, was quite hard shaped 40's on his acrylic wig, after when I curled them I had gaps between hair, which I couldn't fill. In front of the head I rolled on two fingers to the middle of centre on both sides, also did the same with fringe. Rest of hair I left curled loosely falling down, at the back I left curls forwards to face.

My second, problem set up acrylic wig on my friend head, first on the sides I rolled hair on my fingers and using a grips pined them onto the head, each rolled had a two grips, like on the pictures below

   


On the rest of hair I made a French braids and edges pined to the hair, then with my friend help, applied a thigh cap, any protruding hair slipped under a cap, cap pinned to the ready made it hair. After again with help applied a wig.

 You can see hard edges between forehead and wig, didn't really stock to the head, also I used black instead of yellow pins so you can easily see on pictures, I couldn't insert under a cap Nancy's baby hair, everything went wrong, I am so disappointed about my work.

Well, to summarise I am not happy with this wig and hair style, definitely I will know net time to not curl fringe and top of the hair, to avoid gaps between hair and bends. I could use also some decoration from decade, but I didn't so my wig hair style is really poor. I really disappointed, I could done better, even step by step guide wasn't enough.

How to style acrylic wig

Today Lottie showed us how to style acrylic wig and what facilitates we can use to style them. So first most important think to use steamer to straight protruding hair.

Unfortunately we cannot use any hot curly wand, hot rollers or straighten, they melt your hair and fake hair wont be curled. Only steamer resolve this problem, like you can see on photo above, beautifully straight my acrylic wig hair. You can use plastic rollers and steamer to curl your acrylic wig, but you must remember to rolled acrylic wig its very hard, depends on manufacture. I choose cheapest one with fringe, so never again, I really struggle with hair, I can not put even properly on my friend head. I also for my first design, I choose victory rollers so I used plastic rollers to curl the wig.

I left the for few days so to get really curly hair, but mistake is , when you curl your wig, you can get some gaps between hair, and any angle, bends you can really see on the hair. You must really strong put hair on the plastic rollers to avoid unfolded hair, took me about an hour to set up whole head. Well I honestly prefer style from straight hair to get sleek and silky finished. Below some my pictures from styling a wig.
So I choose a contemporary style and tried style my wig. I choose pompadours with beehive style and mixed with 1940's Victory rolls

My Work

First I separate hair from the top of the head, my wig has a fringe so its difficult to style because of the short hair. I rolled hair on my two fingers and I pined to the scalp. First two pictures shows that I rolled fringe separately and pined to he scalp. From rest of hair I did pony tail. I made gaps in the middle of pony tail and rolled edges inside so I get cute rolled pony tail. 

 

 


My second design, I used hair spry and fringe and separate hair from the top I smooth, and rolled on my two fingers, used bobby pines. From rest of hair I did pony tail tail , made a gaps in the middle of pony and push them inside to get a little bun, and pined them.
