Unit Evaluation

This year I was very excited to pick my optional choice for unit -wig & postiche, and I couldn't wait to learn new skills and techniques. I never had and work with wigs, so this was more excited to wait what brings my optional choice. The unit was much organised. So, every week we know exactly what we doing. I like the fact that I was going to learn how to style hair from the last 100 years. My ability to style a hair always needs to be improving, so this was very encouraged.

The Tutors were very helpful with any details, which we met on its way. I learn how to style a hair by using hot rollers-that was one of my favour part, like also rehearsal of back-combing hair.

Next task absolutely amazing- knotting moustache, something new for me. From the beginning I was struggling how to knot, but when you get this, however after all was very relaxing task, also new skills how to put and style your wig. We had option to choice decade.  So for my final look, I chose 1940’s and I bought acrylic wig, cheap and really bad manufacture. So, when become to style acrylic wig I really struggle to style it, so new skills I learnt, has been useful- using steamer and plastic rolls.

My first outcome, from historical decade was very challenging. The first problem which I have to face it with putting the plastic rollers on acrylic wig, I really struggle with this, took me almost two hours, finished with a steamer. Now I know what I shouldn't done to become styling acrylic wig. My second problem was to fit a wig on my model, as a bad manufacture was difficult to do it, but with the next part -historical decade with modern twist went very well, and I was very pleased with result. Definitely I prefer work with wig with human hair, easy to create and style any decade. Even styling from 1940’s my lace wig gave me much pleasure and was less stressful. Absolutely easy to fit on my model head, like also look very natural.

I am really pleased for choosing my optional unit. I really enjoyed to creating my hairstyles like also knotting and setting moustache
